Innerwork SOMATIC psychotherapy

Having an empathetic and rational setting in which to talk about life issues and challenges is essential to an effective therapy experience.  During individual sessions, you have the opportunity to candidly express yourself in a supportive environment.

Individual sessions allow you to process your perceptions and experiences through a new paradigm that promotes insight and growth. The InnerWork process provides an opportunities to understand and recognize unproductive patterns in your life and experience personal change that transforms your perceptions and relationships.

InnerWork Psychotherapy is a cognitive behavioral approach that makes it possible to see patterns of perceptions that are Seemingly Rational or Futile, just not Actually Rational. These perceptions produce unhealthy emotions – some of which we really like and some which we don’t  like. These unhealthy emotions are what generate negative behaviors that we may or may not even view as negative. These perceptions are completely understandable and predictable, having developed over the course of your life in response to modelling from influential people, relationships and situations but are functionally detrimental. Seeing this default pattern of perceptions allows us to  manage our feelings and engage in actually beneficial behaviors. We can be transformed by the renewing of our minds! The paradigm I have developed makes that more than a concept and “wouldn’t that be nice.” It is a very practical plan that facilitates personal change.

The basic pattern of these perceptions is what I call the Tsunami of Stress, a way of "problem solving" that alternates between "flight and fight."  When we are in the Tsunami stress is  triggered by a Seemingly Rational Perception of ourselves, others and situations that is compelling and completely believable that is rooted in prior dysfunctional beliefs imposed on us by stressful situations and relationships. Seeing the pattern allows us to manage our emotions and engage in beneficial behaviors! We are literally transformed by the renewing of our minds.
